Giving back to our community, one donation at a time...

The Veterinary Care Foundation (VCF) is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that helps veterinary practices fund their discounted and no - charge cases.

Upon joining VCF, a fund is established in the practice's name under the VCF charitable umbrella. This enables clients and the general public to make tax-deductible gifts through the Foundation which will support the practice's charitable endeavors.

100% of all funds donated to a practice's charitable fund go directly to that practice - all Foundation operating expenses are met by membership dues paid by veterinarians.

Today Dr Smith performed 3 spays on 3 stray cats for the Venice Cat Coalition. There are many feral cat colonies throughout Sarasota and Charlotte counties and this is one way Heron Creek Animal Hospital likes to give back to our community. Dr Smith was able to provide these free services thanks to our Needy Pet Fund. This fund takes care of supplies and services for needy and sick pets when their owners are not able to afford what they need or if there is a stray animal that needs emergent veterinary care. If you are interested in donating to this fund, visit our website ( and click on the Veterinary Care Foundation (VCF) button, or visit and specify our clinic when donating. We can also accept credit card, cash, or check donations at our front desk. Just call one of our friendly customer relations specialists and they will help you!
